We are excited to announce that the Hoosier Youth Philharmonic will be competing in the Music In The Parks Festival at Kentucky Kingdom on Saturday, May 21st!
Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom
Important Dates to Remember:
  • February 9    Commitment form and parent consent form with parent signature and $20 due. Payment may be cash or check made out to HYP. Students give forms and payment to Ms. E during Orchestra.
  • February 23rd   Final payment of $50 due to Ms. E during Orchestra.
We will leave early on May 21st and return to Bloomington that night.
This year students are not required to have earned merits in order to participate in the spring trip.
The HYP boosters have generously offered to pay for Go Express coach buses, so the student cost is quite low.
Parents who wish to drive down and see the performance are welcomed!  You may also wish to make plans to go to Kentucky Kingdom.
We are hoping all HYP students can perform and enjoy a day in the park with us!
After two years with no trip, we are overjoyed to share this memorable experience with our wonderful students!

2018 Welcome Dessert

Each year the HYP hosts a welcome dessert for incoming families.  This year’s welcome dessert will be August 9th in the Bloomington High School South cafeteria at 6pm. All HYP families are invited.  Mr. Hansen and many HYP booster chairs will be present to give information and answer questions about the program and the coming year. Families will have the opportunity to sign up for fundraising events, and students who have not yet been measured for outfits will have the opportunity to do so at the event.  Returning HYP families are asked to bring a dessert to share.

Outfit Collection

As we come to the end of the school year we would like to send a few reminders regarding outfit returns. As stated in the HYP Handbook all outfits, (jackets, pants, shirts, blouses and skirts) need to be dry cleaned at the end of each year.

We will be collecting outfits after the May concert. You may turn in your outfit dirty with $10 (cash or check made out to HYP) and we will provide the dry cleaning, or you may turn in your outfit dry cleaned, with the receipt attached.

All outfits, including those of returning students, need to be returned by the HYP Awards Banquet on May 31st. Below are the outfit collection days and times:

  • Tuesday, May 16th before school at South from 7:30-8:00 am
  • Tuesday, May 16th at South from 6:00-8:00 pm
  • Wednesday, May 17th at North from 7:30-8:00am
  • Wednesday, May 31st at the HYP banquet beginning at 5:00pm

All outfit pieces, including cummerbunds, bow ties, and studs, need to be turned in; this includes any borrowed pieces as well. We will check that the outfit is complete when returned and parents will be billed at that time for any missing pieces. The invoice will reflect the prices outlined in the HYP directory. Please plan accordingly and have checkbooks available.

South students will wear black and white attire for the graduation performance, therefore all outfits should be returned by the banquet. Any outfits not turned in by May 31st will have to be returned dry cleaned with a receipt. Due to time constraints we will not be able to offer the bulk dry cleaning discount after May 31st.

Any student that needs outfit repairs or size adjustments should check in with us at the final concert on May 10th. We will be on hand to take measurements and make note of any needed repairs or alterations. All adjustments will be completed over the summer in order to help alleviate some of the workload at the start of the school year.

Thank you in advance for helping to make this a smooth process. If you have any questions regarding outfit returns please contact one of us.
