Here are just a few of our HYP students who had a triumphant leap day 2020 at ISSMA State in Indianapolis.
On February 13, 2020, HYP student and parent volunteers baked and decorated over 1,000 cookies at Bloomington High School North. Many thanks to this year’s cookie bake organizers Sarah Waite and Jen Buehler and to all the volunteers who helped with this annual fundraiser. These cookies, with personalized messages, were delivered to students at both high schools on Valentine’s Day.
HYP was well represented at solo & ensemble contest held February 8, 2020, at BHS North. Congratulations to all our performers!
HYP will host its annual Chili Supper in the South cafeteria on March 6th. Tickets will be available from HYP students or at the door. Please come enjoy music and food while supporting the HYP. Thanks!
Mother Bear’s Pizza dine and donate, Tuesday, February 25, 2020: Hoosier Youth Philharmonic (HYP) will receive $5 for every large pizza purchased from Mother Bear’s Pizza accompanied by the coupon attached below. This coupon can be copied for any multiple pizza purchase. One paper coupon is required for each pizza purchased. This coupon is good for inside dining, carry out, and delivery and with any of Mother Bear’s specials. This coupon may be used at either the Third Street or the Whitehall Crossing location.
Thanks to everyone who donated to HYP via our Snap-Raise fund drive. Thanks to Hoosier Youth Philharmonic family, friends, and fans we raised over $20,000!
Valentine Cookie Bake is fast approaching and is one of the last fundraising opportunities before our trip to Nashville, TN. There are a number of ways that students and parents can participate.
HYP is selling a heart shaped chocolate chip cookie (6” by 6”) with frosting decoration. Each cookie is $3.00 and a 3-word acceptable phrase can be put on each cookie. This is an inexpensive way to tell someone they are special!
Students will take orders for cookies and collect money when the order is placed. “Secret admirer” orders may be placed for friends at either high school. The receiver will be given a notice at school to pick up their cookie on Valentine’s Day. Home orders can also be taken for family and friends. All home orders must be picked up after 6pm at BHSN in the Home Ec kitchens on February 13th.
Order forms were distributed in class last week and will be collected, along with money, during orchestra class on the following dates:
- North Maroon: Feb. 4th & 6th
- North Gold: Feb. 5th & 7th
- South: Feb. 5th & 7th
Students need to sell 10 cookies to receive credit towards their merit. Order forms and money need to be turned in no later than Friday, February 7th.
Work a shift
Students can work a 2-hour shift on Thursday, February 13th to help bake and decorate cookies. Shifts begin at 3:30 pm in the BHSN Home Ec kitchens. Student sign up sheets are currently posted and will be collected January 31st.
Parents can also volunteer to work a 2-hour shift on February 13th. Parents can help supervise a small group of students baking, decorating, or boxing cookies in the Home Ec kitchen; or can work in the box room folding, sorting and tying boxes. Please coordinate with your child if you would like to work the same shift. Parents will sign up for shifts via this SignUp Genius: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/60B0C4BA8AD2DA13-2020
